Bah Humbug: A Christmas Carol in Mechanicville

Travel back to icy streets of Victorian England, to a world of ghosts, magic and holiday spirits. Come along with the Arts Center on the Hudson to the world of Charles Dickens as they put on a dramatic reading of Dickens’ classic Yuletide tale, A Christmas Carol.

This Saturday, the Arts Center will host English actor and storyteller Ashley Ramsden who will bring the cast of iconic characters of A Christmas Carol to life. Ramsden will portray 23 characters from the story, from Jacob Marley to Tiny Tim to everyone’s favorite humbug, Ebenezer Scrooge. Ramsden will take listeners through Scrooge’s journey and his visits from the Christmas Spirits of Past, Present, and Future. Many are already familiar with Dickens’s tale but audiences have yet to be tired of Scrooge’s emotional transformation from a bitter, hateful man to the embodiment of the true meaning of Christmas, one of a loving, caring, and selfless human being.

Ramsden, the star of the performance, is a world-renowned storyteller and founder of the School of Storytelling at Emerson College. He has toured all over the world, including places like the Sydney Opera House, and has toured with the London Symphony Orchestra. Now, he brings his show to Mechanicvile on Saturday.

Tickets are available now with pre-show tickets priced at $10 dollars for adults and $3 for children. Tickets purchased day of the show will be $15 for adults and $5 for children. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the show starting at 7:30 p.m.
