Mechanicville Hero Remembered (Updated)

An updated motorcade route for Lance Corporal Anthony Denier through his hometown of Mechanicville.

Update (11pm, 12/9) – According to the Mechanicville Police Department, a motorcade and police escort will be conducted for Lance Corporal Anthony Denier through his hometown of Mechanicville on Monday, December 10th. The motorcade will leave Albany International Airport at 11am and will pass through Mechanicville between 11:30am and 12:30pm.

The processional route will turn left off of Route 146 in Halfmoon and onto Pruyn Hill Road where it will eventually turn left into the Mechanicville Jr./Sr. High School to pass by the traffic circle.  From there, the motorcade will proceed eastward onto South Street and will turn north onto Central Avenue.  Next, the processional will take a right onto Saratoga Avenue. It will then make another right onto Main Street and continue southward until it reaches the American Legion Lt. Fred H. Clark Post 91 on South Main Street where services will be held.  An updated diagram of the route is pictured to the right.

This morning, Mayor Anthony Sylvester indicated that City Hall has procured 144 flags to be used for the processional on Monday. They can be obtained tomorrow or Monday at City Hall, limit three per person while supplies last.

Mechanicville native Lance Cpl. Anthony Denier was a marine and MHS graduate. He is remembered in this touching piece from Community News Weekly.

Lance Corporal Anthony Denier was marine and 2004 graduate of Mechanicville High School.
