Well now you too can an entrant in a high stakes race. I speak of course of the annual Duck Derby, being put on this Friday by the Mechanicville-Stillwater Chamber of Commerce.
Taking place by the Mechanicville Docks, behind City Hall, this year’s event promises to be a lot of fun, and features something for everyone. Festivities leading up to the derby include food vendors, a DJ, a youth fishing contest, and boat rides on the Hudson River. If you would like to take part in the fishing contest, registration is required and can be done by calling 518-664-5651.
Entering a duck in the race will cost $5, and those interested in participating can contact Cathie Zullo at 518-664-7791. You can also sign up at the event starting at 4 pm. The grand prize for the winning duck will be $1,000 and a prize of $200 will also be given to the duck that finishes last.
As always, a good clean race is expected; and no fowl play among the competitors will be tolerated.
